An interesting biography; provides history and technique of miniature painting. Some of Dix's portraits can be seen at the National Museum of Women in the Arts. Well illustrated in color.

Well illustrated in color, reproduces over 100 miniatures; discusses their role in American art history.

9. Color: A Natural History of the Palette
